Artists and fans across the country are using TipSee Music, and our next artist spotlight takes us to the Lone Star State. The Will Carter Band has been making waves across the Texas country radio circuit, touring extensively throughout Texas and neighboring states including New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, and Nebraska.
Frontman Will Carter, originally from Sealy, Texas, now calls Katy, Texas home. Music has been part of Carter’s life almost since the beginning — he started playing at just three years old and began performing regularly by the time he was ten.
“I started performing consistently at age 10,” Carter says. “My dad would drive me to fairs, festivals, talent contests — anywhere I could get in to perform or compete.”
The Will Carter Band officially formed in 2015, and the current lineup has been performing together for about a year. Carter leads the band on vocals and rhythm guitar, joined by Dillan Dostal on lead guitar and harmony vocals, Bino on fiddle and harmony vocals, Bobby Tapia on bass, and Jacob Lee on drums and harmony vocals.
Carter describes the band’s sound as country with a rock and roll edge, built around delivering an unforgettable live performance.
“I love a high-energy show, and that’s what we bring to the stage every time,” Carter says.
The band works with Tom Jackson Productions, giving them the opportunity to perform on larger stages and at major festivals. For Carter, those festival crowds are where the band truly shines.
“Festivals are by far my favorite places to perform,” he explains. “Our band is completely wireless and very high energy. Large stages and festival crowds that are there to see a show and enjoy live music are exactly what our performance is designed for.”
For the past two years, the band has also incorporated TipSee Music into their shows as a way to deepen fan engagement.
“We hang the banners and usually wait until about halfway through the show to introduce TipSee,” Carter says. “Once we’ve captured the crowd with our performance, that midpoint of the show is the perfect time to give them another hook. We let them know they’re in control and can request what they want to hear.”
Looking ahead, The Will Carter Band plans to continue touring throughout the Texas radio market and beyond, bringing their high-energy performances to as many fans as possible.
The band has also just completed a brand-new full-length studio album that will be released gradually throughout the year with a series of singles. The first three singles have already been released to Texas radio, and CMT recently premiered the music video for their song “Had It All Wrong.”
While this marks Carter’s fourth album, this project carries a unique distinction.
“This is the first album where the actual band recorded every part on the record,” Carter explains. “Most albums today use studio musicians — guys who have never played together. We decided to go back to the original way of recording and have the same band you see on stage be the band that recorded the songs in the studio.”
Because the band performs together every week, Carter believes the chemistry and energy they’ve developed as a group creates something special in the studio.
“There’s no way to capture that dynamic using studio players,” he says. “Fortunately, these guys are just as good in the studio as they are live, which is hard to find. I’m blessed to have such an amazing group that are as talented as these guys are.”
